Approach to therapy

As a mental health therapist, I endeavor to form a supportive, safe and trusting relationship with my client. Empathy and compassion are hallmarks to my approach. My work centers on the stated needs of my client and developing a collaborative treatment plan to attain these goals.

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Internal Family Systems theory (IFS)

  • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT)

Client focus and style

I believe life experiences drive our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. When one has experienced life's upset, our beliefs about ourselves and the world in general can be negatively impacted. Assisting in identifying these experiences and being able to shift one's perspective is a vital component of successful therapy.

How clients reach goals

In my experience, those seeking therapy tend to be problem focused. Working in unison my client, we establish a solution focused treatment plan with clearly defined objectives to move toward their goals. As therapy progresses, movement toward goal attainment is assessed and changes are made when indicated.

Personal journey and first session

My journey in serving others began when I discovered an innate ability to connect with them, form a genuine, supportive and empowering relationship. With these skills, I welcome my clients with the intent of allowing them to feel safe and understood. In conjunction with the client, we establish a plan to meet the identified goals that will allow them to better understand themselves and thus connect with life in an empowered state.
